Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea played an exciting cricket match on 21st February 2023 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Bangladesh won the match by 28 runs, but Papua New Guinea showed a great fighting spirit throughout the game. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. They got off to a solid start, with their openers putting on a 67-run partnership before Nazmul Hossain was dismissed for 25. Shakib Al Hasan, who was captaining the side, then came in and played a fantastic innings of 102 runs off just 89 balls. He hit 8 fours and 5 sixes and was the backbone of Bangladesh's innings. Other batsmen like Liton Das and Mohammad Naim chipped in with valuable contributions, helping Bangladesh post a competitive total of 292/6 in their allotted 50 overs. Papua New Guinea's chase got off to a poor start as they lost their opener, Tony Ura, in the very first over. However, their captain, Assad Vala, played a brilliant innings of 107 off just 94 balls to keep Papua New Guinea in the game. He hit 12 fours and 2 sixes and was well supported by Charles Amini, who scored 50 runs off 68 balls. However, once Vala was dismissed, the rest of the Papua New Guinea batsmen struggled to keep up with the required run rate, and they eventually fell short by 28 runs. Bangladesh's bowlers put in a solid performance, with Mustafizur Rahman picking up 3 wickets and Shakib Al Hasan and Saifuddin taking 2 wickets each. Overall, it was a good performance by both teams, with Bangladesh coming out on top in the end.
